Overweight Life Insurance Plans HomeThis is a featured page

Someone's build is one of the oldest life insurance risk characteristics. Starting back in the early 1900's is when people who were described as being overweight were offered higher rated offers from the life carriers. Folks who are deemed overweight or having build issues statistically have and increased risk for Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia.

This is whey the underwriters have build chart suggestions that they follow in underwriting somebody's life. Often the way life insurance corporations underwriters view weight loss is by looking back over the year to twelve month's or so and seeing how much weight has been lost. Once that number has been determined they will typically add back half of the weight loss back in and see where you fit into the underwriting guideline manual. All the carriers have their own suggestions and some give credits in the underwriting process that would help you get a better rate. It's best to communicate with your broker and agent to make certain they know exaclty how much you have lost and why you lost the weight.

Please give the following information to your broker or agent so they can debate with the life carriers home office underwriter for best likely rating :

Current Height & Weight: Has your weight changed in the past year: If so how much : Have you had any weight reduction surgery: If yes please give details: Have you had any of the following: coronary artery disease: diabetes: high blood pressure : raised cholesterol or triglycerides [ lipid levels ] Are you on any medications: If yes please give details: Have you smoked cigarettes in the last twelve months : If yes, please give details: Have you had stress electrocardiogram [ treadmill ] in the last year: Yes, was it normal: Yes, was it aberrant with detail: Do you have any other major health issues : If yes, please give details:

Providing this information to your Life Insurance Broker will greatly expedite the method on at least finding out what rate class you could possibly obtain.
